BMW got daytime lights

The actual light installation went rather well, even it was not that easy to get those installed properly:20140717_123753_edit

But then the damn controller box is not turning the lights off when the engine is stopped.. I will throw a duck with that damn thing and replace it with two relays.

Tractor frame material aquired

Here is some 120x40x3 steel profile for the frame and also 40x40x3 + 20x20x2 for axles etc…

Removing BWM aftermarket immobilizer

This box and couple of wires come out when I started to investigate how the aftermarket immobilizer had been installed to my friend’s BMW:

Tomorrow it will be replaced with an aftermarket car alarm system with remote controls.

This Ka is a stub

Now Ka chassis is as small as I like it to be:

Or at least I will not cut it any smaller before the frame starts to take a shape.

Unfortunately now this DIY Tractor project need to be a couple of days in hiatus since I need to install a couple of gadgets to my friend’s BWM. But I’m hoping to be able to continue this tractor project before the weekend already.

Ford Ka – The Flintstones Edition

Today I continued to cut the unnecessary pieces away:

Technical diagram

Or actually a very high-tech diagram about the project:

Some scales are a bit off but this is the best project plan document I have. At least the front section may be a bit taller than pictured in this drawing. Also the front-end loader/ lifter is missing, but that will be planned later when the project starts to take more real shape.

Hopefully the ready product looks a bit more professional than this plan. 😛

Chassis modifications started

First round of the chassis modifications has been now started:

Maybe it was too long? 😀

And also some other unnecessary parts needs to be taken away:

Everything that can be bolted away has been bolted away

Current situation:

But before that I made some tests about the final installation angle:

20140706_132919 20140706_132849 20140706_132821The reason why I might install the chassis back at rear-up angle is that I want to utilize the height of the windscreen better. Usually tractors & other machines have rather tall windscreen for better visibility, and most probably so shall also my tractor have. 😉

There are some little things like doors that will be “at interesting angle”, but based on quick tests they are working good enough way. Tailgate I have planned to install about 90 degree angle looking from the ground level. That should be fairly easy modification since I will chop about 0,5 – 1 meter out from interior length. So the tailgate will be immediately after the front doors.

Only rear axle remaining

Ford Ka wiring, everything intact and not even a single wire has been cut:

Situation before I removed the heater/blower assembly:

Next thing to remove is the rear axle. After that I start cutting the chassis a little bit… 🙂

Interior dismatling

Ka interior has been almost dismantled:
